The software described on this page was written by Gordon Certain. It reads the CSV data file exported by the software provided with the radar unit. EXCEL 2007 or EXCEL 2010 must be used.
Example of a report package using the 10 reports produced with this software. (1MB PDF)

Current version of Gordon's RadarReporter
software (0.1 MB EXCEL 2007 XLSM file)
[The latest version is 1.06, which corrects reports when less than 24 hours of
data is collected daily.]
The programs run in two phases: Preprocessing and Reporting.
Note: Be sure
you enable macros before your start processing or nothing will work!
Preprocessing: To run the software, you must first export the raw
data as a CSV file using the speed data software. Start the macro with [CTRL][a]
AFTER you fill out the location, neighborhood, etc. fields and it will
provide a file open dialogue, from which you can select your CSV file.
(Working files are written to that same directory.) Since EXCEL 2007 is
limited to a little over a million lines of data, if your data file is too
big, the program will provide a daily record count so you can rerun with a
limited time window. On a reasonably fast computer (a slow Core 2 Duo),
preprocessing will take a minute or two.
Reporting: Once preprocessing is done, type [CTRL][w] to run the reports. This will take one to three minutes. When complete, the 10 reports will be preselected, so all you need to do is print them (all ten pages come out consecutively numbered). If you can make a PDF file, then that’s better. I talked to Lt. Cotter and he can receive attachments on his e-mail so you can just attach the PDF if you want to use it. It would probably be useful to attach a map showing the location of the radar site and maybe a photo as I did in my sample reports. [There is a REPORT 11, which is generate but is not publishable yet. It is the only report that uses the RadarSightDistance (feet) field.]
My software requires EXCEL 2007 or EXCEL 2010. If you don’t have 2007 and don’t want to buy it, the EXCEL 2010 beta is available as a free download.
