New NBCA Traffic Committee

"Trees Atlanta" Tree Sale

In July, NBCA's Traffic Committee met for the first time.  Attendees, many of whom have traffic-related work experience, included Kay Beynart, Howard Carson, Gordon Certain, Vivian DuBose, Chris Fellows, Jeffrey Folinus, Geoffrey Kridel, Waldtraut "Walda" Lavroff, Bob Shuster, and Bernie Stills.  Vivian and Jeffrey will be the committee's co-chairs.

The committee hopes to set realistic 18 month objectives and intends to end up with results rather than a notebook full of plans.  The consensus was a traffic plan was needed: traffic changes on one street may exacerbate traffic on another.  For example, speed humps were recently installed on N Ivy Rd.; now N Stratford Rd. residents report increased traffic on their street.  [Another concern is that plans for the Lenox/Phipps/MARTA area include over 20,000 new parking spaces which will no doubt have a big impact on our traffic.

If you have comments for this committee,  write NBCA at P.O. Box 420391, Atlanta, GA 30342 or email us at gcertain@nbca.org.  The Traffic Committee meets on the last Monday of the month in Room 106 of St James United Methodist Church.  The public is invited.

Trees Atlanta is having a tree sale October 14, 2000 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Piedmont Park Educational Complex.  Many unique varieties of trees will be available.  For further information contact Trees Atlanta at 404-522-4097 or www.treesatlanta.com.

"North Buckhead" Marker

North Buckhead's first stone neighborhood marker was completed in late August when three brass plaques were installed.  The marker is in the North Buckhead park at the intersection of Wieuca Rd and Phipps Blvd.

We really want to give  special thanks to
