"Slow Down" Demonstrations

"Turtles" Ruin Tires

Many of your neighbors and friends conducted wonderful campaign to stop speeding in our neighborhood on Thursday, March, 22nd.

More than 20 people participated by manning crosswalks, holding up placards along our streets, and driving back and forth along Wieuca Road and Old Ivy Road at an unusual speed: the speed limit.

In addition to our residents, we had support from Scotty Greene, executive director of the Buckhead Community Improvement District, and Mayoral  candidate Shirley Franklin.  The Slow Down involved 14 Atlanta neighborhoods and was organized by PEDS (www.peds.org).

Thanks to the Atlanta Police Department's Major Peter Andersen, several Special Operations Officers on motorcycles were there to provide support and protection.  Since the Slow Down, the APD continues to monitor speeding on Wieuca Road and Old Ivy Road and has issued numerous speeding tickets.

Help your neighborhood (and your pocketbook) -- drive the speed limit.  Join us next time--possibly in June.
