tate in order to preserve the Preserve. It is not yet clear what will happen -- the City could invoke "imminent domain" to condemn parts of the Preserve.
The tunnel construction process will be long and drawn out, operating 24 hours per day, 7 days a week for one or two years. During this time, large dump trucks will be loaded with the rock excavated from the tunnel using overhead equipment. Depending on their size, dump trucks will arrive and depart at a rate of between one to three per hour. The City has met with neighborhood representatives on several occasions. They are quite aware of our concerns about noise, traffic, blasting required at the shaft site and pollution; they have made a number of significant changes to their site plan to accommodate our concerns.
Improving Atlanta's sewers will be extremely expensive and your water/sewer bill will soar, possibly tripling. If you use any water in your yard, consider installing a separate agricultural (not charged for sewer usage) water meter.

The Chastain Park Civil Association in collaboration with the City of Atlanta has decided to close the Recycling Center on West Wieuca Road across from Galloway school as of Sept. 15, 2001. They have been unable to resolve the problem resulting from indiscriminate littering in and around the site. They regret any inconvenience this action causes the Chastain Park community and offer the following alternative recycling sites for newspapers, magazines, and telephone directories:

Unfortunately, the advice we got about recycling cardboard was "throw it in the trash".
