NOVEMBER 2001

Buckhead Action Committee Kicks Off Initiative

Buckhead Action Committee, a community effort to create a new and better Buckhead, met for the first time with the public on October 22, 2001 to introduce its "Buckhead Action Plan".

The BAC was created to bring "stake-holders" together to address Buckhead's challenges and includes representatives from Buckhead's numerous neighborhood associations, the Buckhead Business Association, Buckhead Community Improvement District, Buckhead Area Transportation Management Association, Buckhead Coalition, Buckhead Village Merchants Association, City of Atlanta Councilmembers and Commissioners, Atlanta Regional Commission, MARTA, and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The Buckhead Action Committee will facilitate the master planning effort.  Key issues include Buckhead traffic, pedestrian safety, residential and commercial growth, zoning and land use, greenspace and affordable housing.

The Buckhead Action Plan process is open to any person or entity with a vested interest in the community as a resident, worker and/or property owner.

A second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13th, 7:00 - 9:30 PM at North Atlanta High School Atlanta and Buckhead

Future meeting dates will be announced on Buckhead Action Committee's web site at www.buckheadactionplan.org.
