NBCA NEWSLETTER

2001 Christmas Tree Sale

Our Tree Sale was the most successful in recent years.  We sold over 200 trees and almost 100 wreaths, raising about $4,000.  This sale is our main fundraiser other than membership dues.   Funds raised by the tree sale allow us to make our annual contribution to Sarah Smith's PTA, buy neighborhood street sign markers, etc.  We also provide a tree for the school lobby.

We tried something new this year:
Tree Delivery.  For a nominal fee, we delivered trees.  The experiment seemed to be a success, so we will try to offer this service next year.

As always, the success of the sale is due to all the volunteers who give up a few hours (or more) of their weekend.  Although hard work, all would agree it is also a lot of fun.  The fall-like weather didn't hurt either.

Volunteers were too numerous to mention, but NBCA gives a special thank-you to Press Miller and his friends.  Press organized a team of young men from St. Pius X to unload the trees, thereby saving the backs of an untold number of older North Buckhead residents.  Moreover, most of them returned to help on Saturday morning.  For some, this was their third year helping out.   Although it was done under the auspices of obtaining community service credit for school, the real motivation is that they enjoy helping with a worthy cause.

Thanks again to all who helped!  Your efforts are greatly appreciated

Work at Emma Lane

The city is constructing a gravel road off the cul-de-sac at the end of Emma Lane which will enable work crews to reach and replace a leaking sewer pipe.  Also, Mr. Howard Patterson the landowner at that site has begun work on his lake restoration project.  Presently, there is a "stop work" order on his work while the city re-checks his permits.  Any neighborhood concerns about any of this work should be addressed to Mike Hall/erosion at the city. Reach him at 404-330-6249 during the day or at 404-815-9257 pin#728807 weekends and at night.
