Chastain Park Pool -- Under Neighborhood Management

Did you notice all the activity going on a the Chastain Park Pool over the summer?   Well, a group of dedicated neighbors breathed new life into the long neglected facility the City was threatening to close.    The group under the leadership of Chastain Park    resident Jim King formed the non-profit North Atlanta Swim Association.  Early in the summer they got approval from the City Council to manage the pool jointly much like what has been done at the Garden Hills pool.

The City agreed to repair the pool as well as upgrade the equipment while the Association agreed to manage and maintain the pool.  Over 200 families including many from North Buckhead paid the $250 annual

membership fee. Members are entitled to free admission to the pool as well as special member only hours.   Plans for next year   include getting new pool furniture and      improving the deck space, installing new fencing and landscaping, and renovating the club house and concessions.  There's also plans to provide swim lessons and start a swim team.

If you are interested in joining for the 2003 season which begins the Friday       before Memorial Day or would like more information, visit their Web site at
