Our neighborhood park at Wieuca Road and Phipps Blvd benefited from not one, but two, workdays on consecutive Saturdays in early November.
Using plans drawn up from our resident Master Gardener, Kim McCauley, and a lot of hard work from neighbors, an unsightly corner of our neighborhood has been transformed. Trees were trimmed, weeds pulled, grass cut and road construction debris removed. In addition, two flower beds were planted and new gravel paths installed. Civic Association funds were used to pay for the hardscape and plants and we've hired a landscape company to ensure the park is maintained throughout the year. Future plans call for planting trees along the sidewalk and the new paths and possibly adding park benches sure to make the park a relaxing stop when walking the dog or after a morning jog.

Special thanks to all the neighbors who volunteered their time and energy including our new friends in the Park Avenue condominiums, and to Ted Jacobsen for bringing his Boy Scout troup and Bobcat. Future workdays will be planned soon. Stay tuned for announcements and come join us!

On September 11, 2001, Maria Ostuni-Felch was a World Trade Center survivor, narrowly escaping with her life from a terrorist attack. This September, Maria had an adventure of a totally different sort.
Her daughter, Sage Elizabeth Felch, was born on September 6, 2002. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Maria is doing well (although a slave to the needs of the new-born baby), as are Sage and proud dad Jonathan Felch. Grandparents Gordon and Sue Certain, and aunt Jessica Certain, are delighted.
Maria spent her youth on North Ivy Road in North Buckhead, and is a graduate of North Fulton High School. She and her family live in Manhattan; however, they will be moving to Cleveland, Ohio, soon.
