We had a terrific clean-up/planting day at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve on October 26.
Over 30 people turned out to spruce up the preserve, spread mulch, pick up trash and plant new ferns.
Many thanks to Troop 370 boy scouts led that day by Steve Williams-they scoured the streambank for trash and hauled out debris from the loop trail including an old rusted water heater!
Also thanks to Andrea Waters for providing snacks and drinks for the volunteers, John Harrison for his hard work and continued commitment to the preserve, and to Southeast Waters/AmeriCorps for organizing the day's events, and North Buckhead neighbors.

The North Buckhead Garden Club is sponsoring an auction for its members in November with all proceeds benefiting the newly incorporated Blue Heron Preserve.
The ongoing support of the Garden Club has been a mainstay for the success of the preserve. The members volunteered on clean-up days, adopted a tree, planted bulbs and dedicated a sign for longtime member Helen Branch's husband Fred.
It is due to long-term support such as that provided by the Garden Club, Troop 370 scouts and the North Buckhead Civic Association that give life to protecting the beautiful trees, streams and greenspace that make our neighborhood so special.
Many, many thanks to the Garden Club for its commitment to Blue Heron and for a wonderful partnership.
