Ivy Road Sidewalks

(Continued from page 4)

What you do on your property affects us all.

For questions or help with creek issues please contact the Environmental Committee of NBCA.  We will be glad to help.

Blue Heron Nature Preserve

Visited the Preserve lately??  Check out the new signage going up in September.  Walk the berm trail and watch out for our resident eastern box turtle who hangs out there.  Visit the USGS monitoring station on the other side of the creek and check out the link for it on our web site.  See www.nbca.org/BlueHeron.

International Walk to School Day

Reminder: Wednesday October 8 is International Walk to School Day.  Groups will be organized to walk to Sarah Smith Elementary.

An Ivy Road neighbor recently asked:  "We live on Ivy Road, and it looks like they are starting to build sidewalks on the northwest side of the road near Old Ivy. Is that what's going on?  If so, do they plan to build them all the way to Wieuca? Any word on speed humps on Ivy?"

Robert Cook, NBCA sidewalk coordinator responded:  "The sidewalk construction that is underway will connect Old Ivy up to about the Ivy Knoll location.  This project is a joint effort between the city and Patrick Leonard, the developer of Ivy Knoll.  NBCA is responsible for coordinating this activity with the neighborhood.

"In terms of finishing the project to the north and connecting Ivy Road to Wieuca Road -- this work has not been scheduled yet.  No speed humps are planned at this time"

An anniversary to remember

Many of us hope for the perfect anniversary gift, but Patti (NBCA's Beautification Chair) and Randy Grayson found a very special way to celebrate four years together.  Their son Ryan was born on their anniversary, April 27, 2003.  He weighed in at a hefty 9 lb 12 ounces, and was 21 ¾ inches long.  Patti, Randy, and sister Caroline, 2, are proud of the new addition to the family.
