Report from Your NPU-B Representative

City agencies sending representatives to the monthly NPU-B meetings are:

  • District Attorney:  Our current representative is Todd Ashley.  His phone is 404-730-4980.
  • Parks Commissioner Diane Harnell-Cohen attended the last meeting personally.  She can be reached for your questions or concerns at
    dharnellcohen@atlantaga.gov.
  • Police Zone 2:  Lt Smith attends NPU-B meetings regularly.  He reported car break-ins and ATM thefts to be on the rise as of late.  Zone 2 phone number is 404-848-7231.
  • Fire Department:  Lt.  Hatcher of AFD Station 21 announced programs offered to the public free of charge:  child car seat installation; blood pressure checks; smoke alarm, carbon dioxide and radon detection device installation in your house.  Residents may come to their fire station and make arrangements.  The new Atlanta Fire Chief wants you to know that he is very community service oriented.
  • Department of Public Works, Code Enforcement Division.  This department has sent a representative to our last two meetings.  Applause went to Housing Inspector Mark Glasby, phone number 404-230-6190 (Housing code and Property maintenance) and to Sr.  Officer Patrick S.  Tuohy when they said that their office realized

that our NPU-B area has been receiving less service for its tax money than other city areas.  The phone number for the Bureau of Housing and Code Compliance is 404-330-6280.  [This is the number to call to complain about poorly kept yards and buildings.]

Committed to serving the Citizens of Atlanta in a timely and efficient manner" are

  • Street Operations 404-330-6245  (Pot Holes, Broken Sidewalks, Street Conditions, etc.)
  • Transportation Services 404 330-6501 (Street Signs, traffic signals, speed humps, lane closure permits,etc.)
  • Solid Waste Services 404-330-6333 (Herbie Curbies, Trash Collection, Bulk Waste, Recycling)
  • Our area rep.  from the Department of Solid Waste Services has recently been Charlene Grant, Route Supervisor, 404-355-8482.
  • Quality of Life Bond Program 404-330-6739 (New sidewalk installation, Public Plazas and Greenspace, Street reconstruction & surfacing, Bridge improvement, Traffic calming devices and signal improvements.; etc.)
