North Buckhead Park News

On Saturday, October 23, a group of volunteers gathered in the morning to work in the park.  Rita Christopher, Jerry Christopher, Kim McCauley, Kevin McCauley, Robert Sarkissian, Sue Certain, Alice Rogers, Peter Rogers, Rachel Lichtenwalter, Robert Jimenez, and Zac Jimenez pruned, weeded, and spread pine straw.  They planted black-eyed susans, pansies, and snapdragons.
The expenses for this project were partially funded by a microgrant from the Park Pride Neighborhood Small Grants Program.  Congratulations to Beautification Chair Rita Christopher for obtaining this grant.  Each neighborhood planning unit may receive as much as $500 per grant cycle;  for fall 2004, in NPU-B, North Buckhead Civic Association and Birchwood Arlene Neighbors each received $250.  A number of groups and communities throughout Atlanta received such grants.  "We are very excited to support so many community neighborhoods," said George Dusenbury, executive director of Park Pride.  "Through their work, these communities are doing their part to make the world a better
