Tunnel--continued

Membership & E-mail

As mentioned in the "Urban Peachtree-Dunwoody?" article on page 1, many North Buckhead residents don't wait until the newsletter comes out to learn about the latest news affecting the neighborhood -- they are on NBCA's E-mail List and they get the news almost as it happens.  If you have e-mail, you can join them.  It's free and easy.  Send an e-mail to Gordon@nbca.org and ask to be added to "the list".
In our last newsletter, we reported that we had 1,050 addresses on our list.  In three short months, the list has grown to 1,104 addresses.  Those who are on our e-mail list are notified of special neighborhood meetings (zoning, etc.) as well as local crime alerts and lost/found dogs and cats.  You are welcome to join our list -- there is no charge and we won't give/rent/sell your address to anyone else.
During the past three months our membership has stayed between 590 and 600 households.  Of course, we would have a lot more members if everyone renewed when their membership expired.  Please check the mailing label on this newsletter and, if your membership has expired, please consider re-joining.  Dues are only $25 for households and $35 for businesses.

thousand in 2000 to six hundred this year. However, this reduction in spills represents the "low lying fruit" and, in terms of volume, the amount is about the same. The Nancy Creek basin is responsible for 40% of the volume of the spills but with the completion of the tunnel, this figure should approach zero. Another statistic reveals just how close the current system is to capacity: 70% of the spills are in "dry weather" conditions.

This report is Number 13 in a series going back to May, 2002 and most probably, the last. Should you wish to receive any back issues, please email a request to me and I will send them onto you. The work of our committee is at an end and our last recommendation to the mayor and city council will be to disband our group.

NPU - B Appointee to the Nancy Creek Tunnel Technical Advisory Committee
