Peachtree Gardens Club Building Historical Preservation

Department of Natural Resources Correspondence File

At the August 17 meeting about the Clubhouse, an NBCA web publisher [Gordon Certain] asked one of the presenters Jeff Durbin of the Georgia Department Department of Natural Resources for a copy of a consultant's report about the Clubhouse which he mentioned in his presentation.

Jeff sent me not only the consultant's report but, apparently, his entire file on the subject.  I have photoed every document in this file and all of it is available here. P0000116-40.jpg (8268 bytes)

A note of caution so you won't waste time you don't have -- I have compressed the photos but there are 17 pages and it may take a long time to load every one of these images.  For people with 14.4 modems, expect no better than 10 minutes of load time.  For 28.8, expect 5 minutes.  For 56K, expect 3.  If you have access to a T1 line, ASDL or cable modem, have fun.

I have sized the photos so they will just barely fit the width of a 640x480 screen.   This degrades the image quality somewhat, but the documents should be readable and look pretty good when printed.

From February 19, 1998 report by consultant historian Nicholas G. Theos of EDWARDS-PITMAN ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. to Mark D Gropp, P.E. and Rosser Lowe

Note that there are some errors in these reports.  For instance, the above map shows Buff Drive as Bluff Drive.  It also shows "dense underbrush" where in the wintertime, an additional building, a multi-car garage complete with at least one [presumably inoperable] vehicle, and piles of construction materials, etc. can be seen.  Also note "Mountain Place" which is, at most, a dirt road.
