NANCY CREEK TUNNEL

Report as of January 10, 2003

This is the seventh Report on the above subject. Should you wish to receive the first six, please e-mail me with your request. As before, I am reporting events to the best of my recollection and I will try to differentiate when I am offering an opinion. This Report may not be the position of the Technical Advisory Committee nor the City of   Atlanta .

The Technical Advisory Committee met on January 10, 2003 at the R. M. Clayton plant (RMC).

RM Clayton Site (NW Atlanta)

The Tunnel Contractor, Obayashi, has completed 16% of the project. The R. M. Clayton Shaft has been excavated to a depth of 110 feet and concrete lined to 100 feet. While we were meeting, Obayashi blasted another layer about 500 feet from us. It sounded like a freight train passing for about 2 seconds. I could not detect any movement.

 Roswell Road Site (North Buckhead)

The sound wall at the Roswell site is being completed. The pre-blast video surveys within 1000 feet of the Shaft are ongoing. All requests to enter property to conduct these surveys have been made. Strangely, several property owners have waived their rights to this survey. The City has decided that anyone along the Tunnel alignment can have the pre-construction video survey conducted even if they have previously declined or if they are outside the 1000 foot radius of influence. Call Mike Robinson at 404 352-0701 to arrange this service. The Cat Doctor building will soon be demolished. They are now located at 4716 Roswell Road – 3/10 mile north of Windsor on the west side of Roswell Road.

 Johnson Ferry Road Site (DeKalb)

Site acquisition and negotiations are ongoing at Johnson Ferry.

Since no Frequently Asked Questions were presented, my report is concluded.
