Thank
you for your interest in the Community Greenspace Program. We are interested
in learning about properties that your neighborhood wants to see protected.
The purpose of this form is to
help the Bureau of Planning develop a record of parcels that may be suitable
for greenspace protection. Please note that this is not a grant
application. Submitting in this form is no guarantee that property you
identify will be acquired. The decision to allocate funds to acquire
properties rests with the City Council, with recommendations from NPUs, City
staff, and the public. For more information about the Program, visit our
website at www.atlantaga.gov/dept/dpdnc/current.htm.
1. Provide as much information as
you can about the property on the form below. Attach any other information
that may be helpful in evaluating the property.
2. IMPORTANT: Please attach a
map highlighting the site.

Please comment briefly on why you feel it is
important to permanently protect this property from development. This parcel includes a 4 or 5 acre man-made lake plus about 3 acres of undeveloped land. The land is at the end of the cul-de-sac on Emma Lane. The site was originally developed in the early 40’s by one of the pioneers of North Buckhead (for more info, see www.nbca.org/Lakemoore.htm on our web site.) The lake was built at that time but has since silted in during the last several years because of silt from the the construction of GA 400 and infill subdivisions. Mr. Howard Patterson bought the property several years ago. He is interested in restoring much of the lake and possibly building a single family home on the 3 acres. The lake site is close to our Blue Heron Nature Preserve and is home to a variety of wildlife including birds and beavers. See attached email for more information about his plans. |
