Thank
you for your interest in the Community Greenspace Program. We are interested
in learning about properties that your neighborhood wants to see protected.
The purpose of this form is to
help the Bureau of Planning develop a record of parcels that may be suitable
for greenspace protection. Please note that this is not a grant
application. Submitting in this form is no guarantee that property you
identify will be acquired. The decision to allocate funds to acquire
properties rests with the City Council, with recommendations from NPUs, City
staff, and the public. For more information about the Program, visit our
website at www.atlantaga.gov/dept/dpdnc/current.htm.
1. Provide as much information as

Please comment briefly on why you feel it is
important to permanently protect this property from development. This
property is adjacent to GA 400 and immediately across Mountain Way from
Little Nancy Creek. By the
maps I have looked at, it appears this site rises about 100’ over a
distance of about 500’. It
is heavily wooded
and provides the neighborhood with a good sound buffer from the busy
traffic on GA 400. It would
be an environmental disaster to water quality, sound buffering and scenic
beauty if this site were developed. It is not necessary to buy the entire site. I suggest buying the difficult-to-develop back portion of 5050 N Ivy(separating
the house as an independent property) plus buying the 2 adjacent lots.
(This is also related to 5060
N Ivy, where the steep, back portion of the lot would enlarge this
greenspace property.) This
property is currently listed as “home + acreage” by Northside Realty! |
