Thank
you for your interest in the Community Greenspace Program. We are interested
in learning about properties that your neighborhood wants to see protected.
The purpose of this form is to
help the Bureau of Planning develop a record of parcels that may be suitable
for greenspace protection. Please note that this is not a grant
application. Submitting in this form is no guarantee that property you
identify will be acquired. The decision to allocate funds to acquire
properties rests with the City Council, with recommendations from NPUs, City
staff, and the public. For more information about the Program, visit our
website at www.atlantaga.gov/dept/dpdnc/current.htm.
1. Provide as much information as
you can about the property on the form below. Attach any other information
that may be helpful in evaluating the property.

Please comment briefly on why you feel it is
important to permanently protect this property from development. This property is on one the east side of North Stratford Road. Some part may be controlled by a City sewer easement. The lot may be a double lot. It is south of 3625 North Stratford and opposite 3612. A stream runs through the property, which with the 75’ stream buffer, may render much of it undevelopable. This property is believed to be part of a a 9+ acre site which was the subject of a land-use planning case which was resolved in the City’s and neighborhood’s favor in March 2001 in the Georgia Supreme Court. We do not know if the owner has any current development plans. Residents
near the property have “adopted” parts of the lot and are maintaining
it (mow grass, etc.) as an informal park – the sign they put up says
“McKellar Blake Park”. |
