Property Identification Form

Thank you for your interest in the Community Greenspace Program. We are interested in learning about properties that your neighborhood wants to see protected.

The purpose of this form is to help the Bureau of Planning develop a record of parcels that may be suitable for greenspace protection. Please note that this is not a grant application. Submitting in this form is no guarantee that property you identify will be acquired. The decision to allocate funds to acquire properties rests with the City Council, with recommendations from NPUs, City staff, and the public. For more information about the Program, visit our website at www.atlantaga.gov/dept/dpdnc/current.htm.

Location and Features (cont'd)

Please comment briefly on why you feel it is important to permanently protect this property from development.

This property is on both sides of a tributary of Little Nancy Creek.  It is a canyon resulting from a rock quarry which operated until approx. 1935.  Most of the quarry is surrounded by vertical walls, estimated to be 20’ tall.  A small spring-fed stream flows through the quarry, entering it in a ~20’ waterfall.

This property may not be developable.  If it were developed, large amounts of dill dirt would have to be used.

This site is a neighborhood treasure.  See much additional information at our web site at

www.nbca.org/quarry.htm.
