Peachtree Gardens Phase II Building Permit Granted

9/5 With the thudding of falling trees, we learned on early Sunday afternoon, September 5, that the City had approved the permit for Phase II of the Peachtree Gardens Subdivision.  The City granted the permit to developer Louis Reynaud on Friday, September 3.  I (Gordon Certain) was able to reach Norman Koplon, Director of Building, at his home.  He verified what Reynaud told Nick Hume, that the permit had been granted, and that it was limited to "Phase II".  According to maps posted on our site (see www.nbca.org/pg_treeplan.htm),   Phase II includes lots 12 through 14 on Mountain Drive  (on the Mountain Way end of the street.)

According to Nick Hume, who alerted us to the activity on the site, a bulldozer was pushing down trees on the site (lots 12 and 13), directly across from his house on Mountain Drive.  [The two lots Mr. Reynaud had offered to the neighborhood as "greenspace" (lots 14 and 15)  were not cleared.  Mr. Reynaud withdrew his offer to donate these lots in early August after negotiations with the neighborhood broke down.]  For the last week or so, Mr. Reynaud had been working to clear trees from the Phase I site.

I visited the site on Sunday afternoon and took the following photos.

Burning of Construction Debris is Illegal

Also, last week I took a copy of the City's burning ordinance to Mr. Reynaud.  I had been concerned that the trees debris had been stacked for burning.  Mr. Reynaud said he understood the rules and wouldn't burn the trees.  (In December the City passed an ordinance, in the interest of minimizing air pollution, that prohibits any burning of building debris, including matter resulting from clear cutting, at any time of the year.)

Please notify NBCA immediately if you see any burning at any North Buckhead construction site - Gordon: 404-231-1192 home and 404-219-2818 cell. Other Board member's numbers are at www.nbca.org/nbf_bord.htm.
